Introduction 1
I think imagination is a skill. This skill needs to be developed with practice. Not many
people are creative in their thinking. Nowadays, children are also losing their
imagination because they are too much dependent on google for gaining
knowledge. I had an interesting experience where I needed to use my imagination.
This happened around five years ago when I was in school. It happened in my school
campus during the fun fair.
The episode was funny and rewarding. I visited one stall in the fair and the name of
the stall was âguess your giftâ. We had to pay 100 bucks (use appropriate currency
of your country here) to play the guessing game. All the gifts were packed strangely
in a newspaper and were kept in a box. We had to touch and feel the gifts and guess
what was inside. If we could make a right guess then the gift is ours. It was an
enjoyable time and I could guess and win three things.
I felt great and elated. Things that I won were what I really wanted. I won a
wallet/purse, a cap and a wrist watch. In between the game I thought that I had
some magic inside me that I was able to make all the right guesses and was winning.
However, the next three times I lost. So first it was easy and then it got difficult. If it
would be so easy then the stall owner would lose all his money.
It was a matter of luck. It is said that âno lunch is freeâ. I almost paid 600 bucks to
assume the content of the gift wrap. It was a good mind game and the great exercise
to the brain. Overall it was lots of fun. I realized that we hardly think and use our
imagination in our day to day life. Now sometimes I play brain games so that I use
my imagination in everyday situations and think out of the box. The skill of
imagination also helps me in problem solving and decision making.
Introduction 2
Well, it is very important to make use of our sense of imagination as it reflects our intelligence as well as creativity. I often make use of this power and now I would like to talk about a time. when I drew painting using imagination. Right from my school days, I have a deep interest towards art and I have taken part in many painting competition at school level.
When it was?
I vividly remember, when I was in 8th grade 410110 and I fall seriously sick.j61 was not attending school for a while and during this time my school organized a painting competition I was completely unawared about the date of this contest and I had no preparation:. at all. The day after recovering I went to school.
When you needed to use imagination?
I got to know that the painting competition is going to happen today. My all friends why were taking part in this competition were quite confident as they were prepared a they were saying that this time we are go to beat you because who are not prepared for this contest at all.
How difficult or easy it was?
Well, rather then getting nervous I decided that I will come up something in my mind and I will make a painting. So the completion started and all the painters had to come up with a painting in one hour time. Now this point, I decided I will make a painting of Golden Temple using my imagination.
Explain how you felt about it?
Itâs a beautiful building and I had visited this place few number of times so, I was quite aware how it looks like. So, now I started painting as I was visualizing. For example, the sanctum sanctorum the holy pond and  two other things. At the Same time, I painted it with realistic colours. For example, I choose golden for the prime structure and blue to represent the water in the pond.
Conclusion:
In one hour, I completed and it was looking  stunning. My teachers really appreciated me not only the painting but, my sense of imagination that really helped me to draw this wonderful piece of art. Since, it was best among all. So, I was also honored by my teacher with a reward
Introduction 3
- There are many situations when ingenuity has helped me tackle difficult situations.
When was it?
- A few months, I had gone to Jammu for an examination.
- But, because of the fog, my train back home got cancelled.
- So, I decided to travel back by bus.
- The bus dropped me at my cityâs bus station at about 2 AM.
- I told my parents that I would be coming by bus, but because I had left my flashlight on, my phone battery had died on my phone.
- So, I couldnât call my parents to pick me up when I reached the bus station.
- And because of the fog, my parents couldnât estimate when the bus would reach my home city.
- So, I was forced to walk back alone at night.
When did you need to use imagination?
- At this time, I saw some strangers walking towards me.
- I felt that their intentions were not right, and I was anxious.
How difficult or easy it was?
- At that moment, I used my imagination and took out the phone and started talking loudly on the phone.
- I knew that my phone was dead, but they didnât know that the phone was dead.
- As they came closer, I started saying that I am just around the corner.
- As they heard this, they moved back, and I used this opportunity to run a nearby 24/7 store.
Explain how you felt about it.
- Once inside, I borrowed the phone from the sales clerk and called my parents to pick me up.
- The whole time my heart was beating very loudly.
- It was a terrifying situation.
- On seeing my father and mother, I finally took a huge sigh of relief.
- My father told me that he was really proud of my presence of mind, and a lot of people told me that they wouldnât have been able to think on their feet as I did.
Introduction 4
In some situations we need to use our imagination to perform well or get out of difficult situations.
Imagination is an amazing thing .
We imagine almost everything like what we want to become or what we want to achieve.
We imagine how our future is going to be .
Sometimes we imagine bad things when we are depressed but when we are genuinely happy good thoughts automatically comes to the mind .
Here i would like to talk about a time when i had to use my imagination.
It was during my 12th class.
Actually an art competition was held in our school and i took part in it .
Our teachers told us that we will have to draw on whatever topic is given on the competition day .
So i prepared myself for it .On the competition day my topic was mental health and ways to improve it.
It was little difficult for me, but I had to complete it, So i used my imagination and thought about a mentally disturbed person and drawed according to the topic.
I draw some pictures representing ways to enhance mental health.
After an hour the result of the competition was declared and i got 2nd position.
I felt very happy because of the result and i was really satisfied with what i drawed .
My teachers and my parents also congratulated me.
So this was the time when i used my used my imagination.
Introduction 5
Many times in our life, we need to use our imagination. And sometimes it becomes very difficult .Here I am going to talk about one such situation when I needed to use my imagination and I was successful in that.
When it was
Actually when I was in twelfth class, there was a speech competition. The participants had to speak on a random topic for 2 minutes. I enrolled my name for this contest.
Story
The day arrived, and it was my turn. I went on the stage and the judges gave a topic to speak on.  I had to describe the time when I met some Bollywood actor. In really I had never met any Bollywood actor in reality, so I had to use my imagination. I was given one minute to prepare notes. I imagined that I met the superstars Amitabh Bachan. We had a long talk and had a cup of tea together. I also imagined that Amitab Bachan gave me a pen as a gift and he also gave me his autograph on my diary. I spoke on the topic for 2 minutes. The judges got very happy with my imagination and speech. I was awarded the first prize for my excellent imagination.
How difficult or easy it was
At first it was very difficult for me but after a few seconds, I found it very easy to imagine the meeting.Â
And explain how you felt about it
I felt extremely glad at my imagination. I canât believe that I was able to perform well with the given task.

I went to my bedroom .but my mind did not give up on the picture of my friendâs house. then I started imagining my new home which may be very beautiful.I took a pencil and a paper and started to draw the infrastructure of my home imagined that my house would be big and the trees would grow around this house my homeâs kitchen should be well designed and beautiful my bedroom would be big rather than all other rooms and it would also be attached with a bedroom. one window should be in my room from which i will see my kitchen garden. Introduction 7
We all use imagination in our day-to-day lives. Imagination is a wonderful thing. When we read a book or hear a story, we imagine the characters. We also imagine the situation in our minds. In happy times we imagine good things. In sad times, all negative thoughts come in our minds. Here I would like to talk about a situation when I used my imagination. Once I took part in a painting competition in my hometown. I was in 10th class, and I represented my school in this competition, which was organized by a local NGO, the J.C. club. We had to use our imagination to draw and paint a picture on the theme of Drug addiction. I knew that if we take addicting drugs, our bodies become lifeless and our lives become meaningless. I used my imagination and drew two skeletons â one smoking a cigarette and the other injecting itself with a drug. I wanted to convey the message that narcotic drugs can turn us into skeletons and our end is near. I was overjoyed when my name was called out as the first prize-winner. All my friends and teachers who were there congratulated me. Our principal announced my name in the morning assembly the next day and everyone clapped for me.
Follow up Questions
- Do you think that some people are more creative than others?
Yes definitely. People are different in their capacities of imagination. In my
opinion artists, writers and poets are more creative than any other people.
They can think what others cannot.
- How can the skill of imagination be cultivated?
This skill has to be cultivated from early years. If children are not dependent
on media and technology then they will develop a great potential to be able
to imagine and create wonders like Wright brothers.
- Do you think thinking capacities of people have reduced?
Yes, a lot. A lot of people just donât think deeply. I think that people do not
want to make an effort to think because most things are readily available to
them. Technology is the enemy of thinking capacity.
- Do you think that children are more imaginative than adults?
Yes, because their minds are young and they are unstoppable. Children are
not obstructed by ego or logic and that is a major reason why they can
imagine better than adults.
- Why canât most people think from the otherâs perspective?
As people grow up they become rigid and more firm on their ideas and
beliefs. To be able to think from the perspective of others require good
understanding and maturity. Intention is also a very important thing to
understand others.
