Class Season 1 Watch Free Online in Hindi

There is a new “class” of television series and films in India that has created an ambitious visual standard. The camerawork, set locations, and impressive technical cues make the production look stunning. But at times, this is not matched with substantial storytelling. It is not necessarily a “style over substance” pitfall but Class on Netflix does not utilize the full potential of its exciting premise. Class Season 1 Watch Free Online in Hindi

It seems that the creators made a genuine attempt to adapt the Spanish series Elite into the Indian prism of perception. But the recontextualization was too strict, and myopic, and failed to wholeheartedly absorb the local sensibilities of the subject matter it was trying to encapsulate.

Three lower-class students from a burned-down school are given admission into Delhi’s most expensive school by the builders who are allegedly responsible for the fire. Dheeraj, Saba, and Balli are the small algae in an ocean of ideologies, money, and entitlement, coming up against the “elite” class at Hampton International. Soon enough they win over some of the rich students and the two classes intertwined. But as history has taught us, they can never be one and the same, or equal. Suhani Ahuja, the daughter of Suraj Ahuja, a wealthy builder, dies at the end of it all and we see the events prior to it unravel in the series.

A bad habit that creative personnel in India have fallen into is remaking shows and movies scene by scene from their foreign counterparts. The Indian versions of The Office (US), Fauda (Israel), Your Honor (US), Penoza (Dutch) and many more suffer from this problem. Recently, Oliver Hermanus remade the great Akira Kurosawa’s yesteryear classic Ikiru (1952) and the transition was seamless. We got to see a whole new movie with a renewed sense of exploring similar themes through a different lens. That originality is missing from Netflix’s Elite remake.

Class takes most of the story and character arches from Elite. As a result, previous viewers of the Spanish series will be disappointed. There are hardly any surprises in the store for them. The plot twists are all borrowed and are given a very faint Indian touch. The characterization of the students too seems plastic. They talk, walk, and behave in the same manner as the students in Elite. But perhaps they can be cut some slack given the weirdly similar attitude the rich and entitled have across the spectrum.

The makers do take remarkable liberties as conveniences to bring their show together. Like the rich students going to Balli’s party or Suhani concocting with the Valmiki brothers to realize a rivalry are very out there and does not necessarily fit into the prism of reality.

For some reason, the experience feels very exclusive or alien, even for someone local who has grown up around this clash of cultures. You would have to be from that world to feel like you belong in Class’ cinematic universe. The core representation is a subset of the lifestyle prevalent in metros like Delhi and Mumbai, even if the broader themes of the class divide are more proliferated. There are some bits from other geographies as well and it must be said that there are a few exceptions in the cast. Cwaayal Singh, Gurfateh Pirzada, and Chintan Rachchh beautifully import their own reactions to the characters with some stereotypes.

Those spaces where there were no references in Elite are handled well. There is an idea by the makers to imbibe different identities in the Indian society in the characters. It is an entire spectrum, bringing some diversity to the overall appeal. Despite these large negatives, the show does manage to strike a chord. Class has some nuanced distinguishments like the family dysfunction and the dynamic between a parent and a child. For instance, if you compare the characters with their parents, you will realize the impact on their personalities. Avenues in storytelling like these make the show layered and more interesting to dissect.

Some representations like homosexuality and drug abuse were bold. Not many Indian shows can have the luxury of having those breaths in their narratives but Class relishes the opportunity. For local viewers, Class might be a tad too aloof but parts of it are very real. This tonal inconsistency tarnishes the experience on some levels, although on the flip side, that is what makes it exciting. If you haven’t seen Elite, Class is an enjoyable experience overall. Cat Season 1 Watch Free Online in Hindi

Creator Balwinder Singh Janjua, who has previously written screenplays for films such as Saand Ki Aankh (2019), CAT is a crime thriller set in Punjab, a place besieged by cartels, cocaine and corrupt cops. The show chronicles the journey of Gary (Abhishant Rana), an innocent Sikh teenager who becomes entangled in a drug trafficking conspiracy involving gang lords, cops, and political powers. Soon after his parents were killed by terrorist Baljit Rajpuria (Gurinder Makna), Gary became a police informant known as CAT during the 1990s insurgency. Later, he adopts the identity of Gurnam Singh and leads a simple life to raise his younger siblings. When Sunny (Danish Sood), his younger brother, is arrested for drug trafficking, Gurnam is forced to seek help from a former acquaintance, Sehtab Singh. In exchange for letting his brother off the hook, Sehtab forces Gurnam to join his core team—Chandan (Pramod Pathak) and Babita (Hasleen Kaur)—on a mission to shut down the drug trade. Will he be able to save Punjab and his brother from the drugs?

This eight-part series—40-45 minutes per episode—is a gripping tale of crime, brotherhood, espionage, and familial love laced with lots of drama and action. Janjua, who has co-written and co-directed the show with Jimmy Singh and Rupinder Chahal, has made sure that each episode builds on the previous one, keeping a tight leash on the narrative. Even the characters’ backstories have been seamlessly woven into the narrative through Gurnam’s eyes as he guides the viewer through the build-up and the thrilling climactic sequence.

Several tracks run concurrently, making it difficult to keep track of everything, like that of Madam Aulakh (Geeta Agrawal), a powerful politician, and her daughter Kimi (Kavya Thapar), an obsessive fan of Punjabi rock star Rocky Ranjha (Eklavey Kashyap). Aulakh fearlessly runs the drugs trade with the help of her Shamsher Bhaisahab (Jaipreet Singh), his son Monty (Manish Gulati), and partner Laadi (Dakssh Ajit Singh), each of whom has a distinct backstory. In fact, every character in the show has stories from their past and present to tell, which eventually gets too much to handle.

CAT is clearly Randeep Hooda’s triumph. He imbues Gurnam with a strong sense of humanity. Hooda captures the viewer’s attention in every frame with the right amount of seriousness required for his character. His younger counterpart, played by Abhishant Rana, steals the show with his expressions. Scenes like Gurnam’s helplessness while asking his brother to refrain from using drugs and Madam Aulakh’s sharing of her past will move you. Suvinder Vicky, most recently seen in Ivan Ayr’s Milestone (2020), is excellent as Sehtab Singh. His character is mysteriously established from the start.

Midway through, the series becomes overly indulgent and sluggish. It’s also intensely dark, with some gory killings making you cringe. However, its victory lies in making you empathise with its characters. The majority of the females on the show are victims of physical abuse and are fighting their demons and destinies, and you shed a silent tear. Geeta Agrawal excels as Madam Aulakh by capturing the right body language and attitude, and Hasleen Kaur also shines as the zealous cop Babita.

Like any other spy thriller, the action sequences are well executed. Arvind Krishna’s cinematography captures Punjab’s real and rustic feel well. The series is filled with upbeat and peppy Punjabi songs, particularly Jatt Vekh Lugaa and Goli Chaldi. And the background music by Jam8 and Joel Crasto blends well and adds energy to the show.

CAT is a riveting thriller that soars on the strength of strong performances by Randeep Hooda and the rest of the cast. So, if intense dramas with interesting plot twists pique your interest, you can also give this one a shot.

A squad of commandos are deployed to displace the people of Nilja village. The tribals refuse to budge and their forced evacuation unearths an ancient curse and a zombie attack. Netflix’s zombie series ‘Betaal’, produced by Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment, misses the mark by a mile. Written and directed by Patrick Graham along with Suhani Kanwar and Nikhil Mahajan fails to evoke any sort of tension, fear or thrill. Betaal Watch Free Online in Hindi

It all starts with a highway scam and you hope this could be more than a generic zombie series, but it isn’t. Scenes drag forever, the story is daft (British zombies are the culprits) and execution, forgettable. The series fails to create a fictional make-believe, scary world. The British zombies in uniform from pre independence era look anything but menacing.

There’s a scene in the series where an unethical character actually negotiates with a zombie for power and money, hoping the zombie is ethical! Tribals with turmeric powder are more clever than commandos with guns. You wonder how the tribals end up mouthing Mumbaiyya slangs like ‘Lag gayi hum sab ki’.

The production value is equally average. Deep forests, archaic tunnels, ancient temples and abandoned Victorian structures can make for a good thriller setting, but not here. It all gives an in-studio feel. Also things are over explained. For instance, while entering the tunnels, the commandos are told — “night vision chaalu karo.”

The only thing that’s positive and somewhat engaging about this series are sincere performances by lead actors Vineet Kumar Singh, Aahana Kumra and Manjiri Pupala. Jeetendra Joshi is wasted. They all deserved better. Characters keep saying, ‘Yeh kya c******* hai’ and ‘bohot ho gaya’ throughout the series and that’s exactly what you feel about it.

Alma Matters: Inside the IIT Dream - Rotten Tomatoes

There comes a point in the first episode of the Netflix series, Alma Matters, where a student says something to the effect of “People (in IITs) don’t work because they want to. They work only after they see someone else working.” It’s an insight that is simply worded, but one that speaks reams about the culture inside IITs and the Indian education system at large.

Set up in the 1950s in a newly independent India, the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) were earmarked as institutions to lend scientific temperament to the society, and take a young nation to newer technological heights.

When the top-secret covert mission in Pakistan goes awry, Commando Virat (Prem Parija) formulates a rescue operation to safeguard both his country and another commando-cum-his best friend Kshitij (Vaibhav Tatwawadi), who is apprehended in Pakistan. Will he be able to carry out his plan? Created and directed by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, who also produced the ‘Commando’ franchise (starring Vidyut Jammwal), this show is essentially an expansion of the tale from ‘Commando 3’ (2019). The violence in the series, like in these films, is brutal as it will take some nerve to see those scenes. But this series is nothing more than the reboot of a popular film franchise with some new faces. Commando Season 1 Watch Free Online in Hindi

Commando Season 1 Watch Free Online in Hindi

‘Commando’ uses cliché tropes that action thrillers with such subjects usually do, like the hero making a grand entry and single-handedly bashing all the baddies. The drama has a lot of well-choreographed action sequences, but the story takes time to gather momentum. The basic plotline of one brave commando saving one of his own and the nation from the terror attacks has been seen in multiple films, and this four-part series with 35-45 minutes of content offers nothing new. The fact that everything works in favor of the protagonist, who is on a quest to save his friend, seems unconvincing. Additionally, the subplots and stories of secondary characters (Shreya Chaudhry, Manini, Chadha) might have been expanded further to strengthen the overall narrative.

What works in favour of the series stays true to its core—it delivers heavy-duty action, with raw hand-to-hand combat and gunfights. Prem as Commando Virat scores on every action scene with his slick kicks and punches, however, he lacks finesse when compared with OG Commando Vidyut. Adah Sharma who returns as Bhavna Reddy, too, packs a punch in this hardcore action series. Adah continues to speak in her strange dialect, which is annoying, but she appears charming on-screen. Vaibhav Tatwawadi plays Kshitij convincingly, and one feels his suffering when he is cruelly tortured in jail.

Tigmanshu Dhulia and Amit Sial have both previously impressed with their performances, but they don’t quite match the menacing characters of RAW chief Bakshi and Colonel Jaffer, respectively. Unfortunately, these characters are so one-dimensional and formulaic that there isn’t much to keep you interested. Despite its flaws, the ‘Commando’ series has enough to entertain action buffs and the climax of the show is a standout moment, leaving viewers curious and eager for a possible next season. ‘Taali’ is based on the life and times of Shreegauri Sawant, a transgender activist who fought relentlessly until the third gender found its place on all official documents in India. Getting Sushmita Sen – a former Miss Universe and an epitome of grace and feminine beauty to play the role of a transgender, is as bold as it gets. National award-winning director Ravi Jadhav known for popular Marathi films like ‘Natarang’, ‘Balgandharva’ and ‘Balak-Palak’ grabs audience attention with his rather unconventional choice of the actress to play Shreegauri Sawant in ‘Taali’. And Sushmita Sen puts her heart and soul into essaying with all honesty. However, the end result is a mishmash of some powerful moments from Sawant’s life and a long and laborious narrative that doesn’t always manage to engage us. The reason is the script, which shies away from fully exposing the harsh realities of transgender life. Much of the portrayal seems sanitized and superficial, occasionally missing the mark in reaching deep into our hearts. The languid pace of the series further compounds these issues, raising the question of whether the narrative could have thrived better as a concise two-hour film.

The show’s non-linear narrative chalks Gauri’s internal and external struggle right from childhood, her physical transformation, embracing motherhood and her emergence as a powerful voice in the transgender community. However, barring a scene or two, we don’t feel the power that Gauri exudes and the tangible impact of the change she brings. Sushmita conveys this mostly through her expressive wide eyes and a voice slightly altered in pitch, perfectly tailored for the role. Her accent oscillates between some colloquial Marathi and perfect English for which she’s known.

Nonetheless, she brings the required grace and emotional heft to Gauri’s character and skilfully portrays her innermost turmoil. Sushmita’s performance is the glue that holds ‘Taali’s’ somewhat unsatisfying narrative together. Rest of the actors play their parts well. The series’ soundtrack adds a significant layer to the storytelling, especially the captivating introduction. The attention to detail in recreating the attire and ambience of yesteryear Mumbai is evident. Sushmita’s make-up and gradual transformation has the intended shock value and she sheds all inhibitions to fit into the role. Ultimately, despite its imperfections, the creators, Sushmita Sen and Shreegauri Sawant warrant a round of taalis for their unwavering conviction in daring to embrace the unconventional.

Spinning over a tight 30-hour timeframe, the tale unfolds as an ardent IPS officer Ashwath (Atharvaa) bit into a nefarious criminal syndicate founded by the facially enigmatic Padalam Sekar aka Whale (K Manikandan). With Murugesan’s deep entrenchment schemes ambushed with a cat-and-mouse game reminiscent of the acclaimed series “The Wire” as phone surveillance and strategic pursuit put Ashwathan in line closer to unravelling corruption within the armoury and the government.

Mathagam Season 1 Watch Free Online in Hindi

“Mathagam” is a brilliant ensemble cast led by Atharvaa, Manikandan, Nikila Vimal, and DD in the lead roles. The role of an IPS officer that comes with depths to his story as well as Manikandan’s performance as a calculating antagonist add complexities and intrigue to the character dynamics altogether. The ensemble is further magnified on its own with Gautham Vasudev Menon, Dilraz Irani, Ilavarasu, Vadivukarasi, and Moonarnesh portraying supporting roles, which elevate all those layers of emotional and narrative nuances too.

Tightly-woven plot: The series’ tightly woven plot keeps the audience hooked, and Murugesan directs in such a way that every scene serves its purpose. Keeping up a constant momentum throughout, even if the pacing feels deliberate at times, patience is rewarded with a well-crafted narrative that dips into the criminal underworld and what it takes to fight law enforcement’s battles.

Though a few moments of momentum slip, the series thrives on its peculiar rhythms and standout cast performances. Manikandan’s Padalam Sekar is particularly noteworthy, exuding a character that is both mercurial and cerebral, with unexpected layers that add cachet. Atharvaa’s portrayal of Ashwath, though more subdued, captures the watchful determination of a police officer on a mission. Mathagam Season 1 Watch Free Online in Hindi

From the melodies of RD Burman to the distinctive hairstyle sported by Gulshan Devaiah’s character (the hairstyle that Sanjay Dutt sported in the 90s), and even the half sweater worn by Tipu (a nod to Amitabh Bachchan’s wardrobe in “Don”), all these aspects indicate the directorial duo Raj and DK’s deep love for everything 90s. Pinpointing the exact setting of the plot proves to be a challenge, as the dialect and expletives used suggest a location in Uttar Pradesh.

while the car numbers, terrain, and certain characters point in the opposite direction. Filled with ample twists and turns, although the pace momentarily falters in the middle episodes, it regains momentum and ultimately delivers a stunning finale, packing a powerful punch.

Guns & Gulaabs not only boasts a captivating plot but also benefits from outstanding performances. While the series’ main cast executes their roles efficiently, it’s the idiosyncrasy of the lesser-known actors that leave a lasting impression. Raj and DK craft a universe in which the majority engage in illicit activities and find no better way to pass the time than engaging in confrontations at the behest of their leader. This is a fictional realm, yet it springs to life on the screen. The majority of characters in the series exist within a morally ambiguous space, lending an air of authenticity to the overarching plot, making it all the more believable.

The storyline centers on the town of Gulaabgunj, home to an opium factory where a significant portion of the yield is supplied to the government. Ganchi (late Satish Kaushik), the local mafia leader, has collaborated with Mishra, the superintendent of Police, to construct an empire founded upon the illicit opium trade. Among his associates, Nabeed has severed ties with Ganchi, establishing a rival domain in the nearby town of Sherpur.

Upon Arjun Varma’s (Dulquer Salmaan) arrival, an upright officer from the narcotics department who has been transferred to Gulaabgunj, he directly witnesses the unlawful opium dealings of both rival factions. Concurrently, another narrative thread follows the tale of Tipu (Rajkummar Rao), a skilled two-wheeler mechanic. Tipu’s father was once a part of the Ganchi gang and played a pivotal role in the expansion of Senior Ganchi’s dominion.

Following the murder of his father by two henchmen, Tipu unwittingly becomes entwined with Ganchi’s gang after he retaliates by taking the lives of the assailants. The most captivating aspect of this series lies in its quirky characters, seamlessly intertwined with the plot and the local backdrop. The late Satish Kaushik, portraying Sr. Ganchi, graces the initial two episodes of this crime drama, prompting viewers to marvel at the actor’s immense potential while lamenting the untapped depths of his talent.

Rajkummar Rao shines as Tipu, masterfully embodying a simpleton who hovers near the brink of being a buffoon. His interactions with his henchman friend Bunty and his assistant mechanic Kumarcut stand out as highlights within the series. Dulquer Salmaan makes his debut in a Hindi series, delivering a performance that serves as a textbook example of natural and effortless acting. Adarsh Gourav, known for his brilliant role in “The White Tiger,” once again leaves a lasting impression; his portrayal in the final moments of the series is nothing short of a masterclass.

Gulshan Devaiah sporadically appears as the contract killer Atmaram, emanating a truly menacing presence. TJ Bhanu, portraying Chandralekha, the local school teacher and Tipu’s love interest, delivers a refined performance. The series also features a group of children who exhibit ease in front of the camera and fulfill the expectations placed upon them.

This crime drama moves forward at a rapid pace, leaving you little time to ponder. It also solidifies Raj and DK’s reputation as distinctive storytellers. At certain junctures within the series, viewers will find themselves recalling the brilliant twist that unfolded just before intermission in Rajiv Rai’s “Mohra.” Somehow, both of them have become adept at gauging the pulse of the streaming audience.

While Guns & Gulaabs falls short of being a masterpiece, some segments of the screenplay hint at the use of ‘convenience’ by the writers. Nonetheless, it undeniably delivers high-quality entertainment.
