Introduction 1
Well, I am quite health conscious and for physical and mental fitness I daily go for a walk.
When this happened?
I usually go for walk alone as my friends are bit lazy to get up early to join me but here I would share the experience of having a long walk with my cousin who was visiting India after long time.
Who you were with?
My cousin Karan actually lives in Canada and last month he was visiting us.
Where you walked?
Like me he is also in habit of going for a walk so he joined the next morning. Since, there are lots of farms around where I live, on his request we decided to have a walk around the farmland. Till now he was complaining about pollution in the area but when he inhaled the fresh air in the morning he felt so good. The dew drops on the leaves and flowers were so health giving.
I took it as an opportunity to show him my farms and the vegetables grown there which he saw after ages. I plucked few fresh carrots for him and he was happy about it. During this walk, we recalled our childhood memories and had a good laugh. During this walk Karan told me about how Canadian culture is different than Indian and how his life has changed after moving to that country.
He said the country is full of opportunities especially for students who move there for further study as they can do some part time job along study and become independent. He said just in 5 years he has purchased a super car and a house which is quite impressive. In fact, he advised me to plan to move to Canada for higher studies. We were so lost in talks that we walked for almost 10 kms.
And explain how you felt about this walk? and Conclusion:
This was time we decided to return and continued enjoying the talks. Overall, it was a long walk I enjoyed that allowed me to spend quality time and share feelings with my cousin.

I live in a village, there’s lot of open space almost near to my home. Mostly I walk with my father every morning. Last month I visited to my uncle’s home, situated 100 kilometre faraway in a city from my home. I went there to attend a celebration cum inauguration of my cousin’s new boutique.
Who you were with?
My cousin wanted to decorated his boutique with fresh flowers. so for that I and my cousin awakened early within the morning. The flower shop was about 2 kilometres faraway from her house. We decided to travel there on walking rather than using the car.
And explain how you felt about this walk?
I knew it had been a really long walk but I’m happy because I got time to spend with my cousin after long time. We started walking at about 5 o clock. We were talking about her new business while walking. We took the break of 10 minutes after one kilometre and drink water. I could see her passion for her work.
Conclusion:
She told me from where she will buy products and stuff. I knew her work is extremely hard because it’s very difficult to fulfil the customer wishes, so I gave her my best wishes. I was very happy to ascertain that now she is independent and may fulfil her all dreams. We reached home about 6:00 am and began decorating the boutique.

Introduction 5
Being a fitness conscious person, I walk regularly. Although I have had numerous walks with influential people, one walk went quite long.
When did this happen?, and Where did you walk?
For a sizeable part of last year, the country was in a state of lockdown due to the corona pandemic. When the unlock process had begun, I immediately rushed to the nearby park for a walk.
Who you were with?
I went there with my bosom friends. As we all were having a walk session after a wide gap, we all were enthusiastic.
While walking, we started discussing our experiences during the lockdown. One of my friends told us how he learned to cook by watching videos on youtube.
Another friend of ours lost tremendous body weight during the given period, and he shared his weight-loss journey with us.
Apart from this, we had discussed the pressing problems in our local areas, such as blocked drains and sanitation issues.
At the end of our walk, we had cleaned the garden to make it look clean and green.
Finally, when we finished the walk, we realized that we had spent three hours together.
And explain how you felt about this walk?
The three enchanting hours I had had during the walk would always remain etched in my memories. Due to staying indoors, I had become impatient, and the walk I had with my amigos brought a paradigm shift in my life.
After returning from the walk, I had shared the whole experience with my family members, and they felt rejuvenated.
Conclusion
That long walk helped me to come out of depression.
Introduction 6
Being a social person, I love to start conversations with strangers. Sometimes these conversations become interesting.Â
When did this happen?, and Where did you walk?
One year back, I had a conversation with a stranger, and that turned out to be a long walk for me.
Who you were with?
I met a motivational speaker by the name of Gordon. We were sitting at the same table for having coffee in a cafe near the garden. I started the conversation by asking about the profession of Mr Gordon.
Once he started telling me about his work, I became interested, and we agreed to walk in the garden. As for the first time, I was talking to a motivational speaker, I was enthusiastic. I started with the most important question of my life, and that was how to get success in life.
During the walk, Gordon told me the exact procedure to get success. He said that the best way to go ahead is to follow a routine. When we do this, it leads to a compounding of efforts. And there is no denying this conviction that compounding leads to colossal benefits. It helps us carve out a niche to lead our lives towards an impressive growth trajectory.
While discussing with him, the time passed quickly, and when we had parted, I realized that We walked for three hours at a stretch.
And explain how you felt about this walk?
That walk brought a paradigm shift in my life and made me think beyond the conventional domain. Before meeting Gordon, I was a careless person, but now I take care of my routine to follow it rigorously.
Introduction 7
During the last summer, in 2015, I went to Greece with my parents and other family members and had a long walk on the Olympus Mountain range. The walking lasted for about three and a half hours.
We walked through the entire range and enjoyed the natural beauties of the local areas. The mountain is considered as the second highest mountain in the country and also admired by both the local and international travellers for its association with the Greek mythology. Many events have taken place on the mountain and it was the residence of 12 Gods of Greek mythology. But currently, the hiking route and the natural beauty is the key attraction for the travellers. The walking routes contained large croplands, peaks, places for collecting foods and other necessary materials etc.
We started the walking using the international hiking path at the E4 starts and the walking ended at the Enipea springs. The entire walking distance was about 1100 meters. During the walking passage, we experienced some stunning natural scenes. The walking trails were marked clearly and there were many ascents and descents across the entire route which made the walking more enjoyable. When we started the walking, the river was left to us and we crossed some beautiful bridges made with wood. We also visited the Agios Dionysios Monastery, a beautiful place. The views of the Enipea waterfalls are breathtaking. Though there were some troubles to ascent and descent on the trail, the entire walking was enjoyable to me.
I was accompanied by my family at the walk. The family members contained my parents, my elder brother and sister and my pet dog. We reached the entrance with a car and then started the journey. It was interesting for me to walk such a long distance but all the other members could not enjoy like me. As I regularly participate in my college sports, I am physically more fit than the other members. Consequently, my parents and the elder sister had to experience some troubles. They were lagging behind often and could not keep pace with me and my elder brother. Besides, they just took breaks after every ten minutes with the excuse to drink water. However, it was a nice journey for us all.
It was my long desire to go for a long walk or hiking in the mountain. I have many experiences to walk on flat lands but walking ins a mountain trail was a completely new experience for me. During the walk in meadows, I did not have to undergo any stress but in this mountain walk, in fact, I had to take some stress like the other family members. They stopped frequently, but I controlled myself from the taking regular breaks, Moreover, the ascent and descent of the geographical structure also had some impacts on my body as during the upward slopes, I had to rely on the stick on my hand and sometimes I extended my hand to my mom while my elder helped my sister. When we reached near the waterfalls, everyone seemed to be relaxed as the journey was over.
Introduction 8
I have never walked so much before the day of official hiking as a scout in my school. It was the longest walk of my life and had a great experience. It was an expedition for me and my team of scouts. Thank you for the question, and it reminds me of my school days.
I was involved in scouting in my school days and took part in many adventurous activities. As part of the scouting, I had to be the member of the hiking team. The team explored the entire city on foot. It was really a nice experience. But I had some difficulties with walking as I had to carry a certain amount of load on my back.
I walked across the city of Beverly Hills. It is a very beautiful city and attracts people most for the good number of places. The walk was made to make the city familiar to us. Besides, there were some rules and regulations. The city also aimed to help us know about the road signs, how to walk and cross the streets and more other matters related to the street walking. Besides, the hiking was also enjoyable as it was planned to make us feel us a strange feeling. During the walk, I lost direction several times and had to be on the track. It was interesting and felt very happy.
It was a teamwork. So, I had to be with my team of scouts. The team consisted of five other members. Each of us was assigned with different responsibilities. Someone was assigned to carry the water bottle while another one was carrying biscuits and other snacks. I was walking with the city map. The route crossed almost all the streets of the city. And we had to follow the directions to reach our destination. After walking for about three and half hours, we reached the destination that was shown on the map. We discovered that we could have reached there within less of the time that we spent if we were told directly to be at the place.
It was a memorable walk for me. I have had a different experience here. I walked before but those were for short times. But this was a long walk and I walked continuously. Sweating was a constant companion to me. Finding the directions and signs on the street was extremely difficult for me. Walking with an opened map was also troublesome. Whenever I made a mistake to find out the direction, I had to experience hot words from the other mates. But when we reached the destination, they thanked me generously. In an overall consideration, it was a nice walk for me indeed.
Idea Generation for this Cue Card topic:
1. The long walk in the Bandra was one of the most delightful events for me. Last summer, I took the walk. The surrounding areas were amazing and I came to know about lots of things. I went there for some business deals and completed the tasks before the schedule. So, I wanted to spend the additional day for visiting the city. It took around three hours for me. A group of tourists was with me during the walk. I actually had no ideas that it could be so nice and interesting. The village lanes, the natives, the natural beauty – everything was adorable.
2. Walking across the Bangor Trail in Germany was an extraordinary event for me. It was a 30-mile long walk (though I could not complete it entirely). I took the walk last year. And I was accompanied by a couple of my college mates. It was a challenging walk indeed and we all completed about 10 miles together. The feelings were great. In fact, walking through the uninhabited mountain range gave a different type of thrill to us. We were alone there. And the sudden rain compelled us to return early.
3. Coast to coast walk in Northern England was a remarkable event in my recent days. I participated in this walk in April in the last year. Some of my college friends participated in it. In fact, we had been planning for a long to take this 192-mile walk. It took around one and a half week for us. I did not have any idea that it would be so long and after completing it, we were amazed indeed.
4. Walking towards the Ba Na hill resort was an excellent foot walk for me. I took the walk alone in the middle of last month. In fact, I asked some of my friends here in Vietnam to participate in the walk but they rejected. None of them was interested. So, I started my own. The trails were adorable and I loved the waterfalls. When I reached the resort, all my tiredness was gone. I walked for about four hours at a stretch and it was truly a wonderful experience for me.
5. There are several places available for long walks in Turkey but I went to Goreme for a day-long walk. A few months ago, I took the walk and some of my family members (particularly my cousins) accompanied me. I walked through the Rose Valley and enjoyed the walk very much. Moreover, I hired a driver to drop and pick me from the starting point. The entire locality was filled with natural blessings. I felt that I was in heaven. In fact, this was the very first experience of my life to have such a long walk.
Introduction 9
Generally, I do regular walking to keep my body as fit as a fiddle.
Here I want to share with you an incident when I had to walk a lot.
Last year in the summer season me and my friends made a plan to visit Manali.
Because in summer there is a lot of snowfall and we wanted to enjoy it.
We took a cab and started our journey.
Just 3 km away from Manali, there was a big traffic jam due to heavy snowfall.
And it could have taken a long time for traffic to pass.
So we decided that we will go to our hotel on foot.
We were three friends, we took our luggage and went towards our destination.
We saw that many other passengers were also walking on foot.
It was very cold on the way.
But We had a lot of fun along the way.
We threw snowballs at each other and clicked so many pictures.
It was a wonderful sight, we were in the lap of nature.
After about 3 hours we reached our hotel.
We were all shivering because of the cold.
We drank hot tea and then took a rest.
Walking there was a memorable experience.
So it was a long walk which I had.
Follow up Questions
1. What outdoor activities do people like?
Exercising outdoors isn’t just good for your physical health. It also helps with your mental health. Spending time in nature and natural light can improve your mood and reduce stress and depression. People can do running, walking, rafting.
OR
I think mostly people like to go for a run or walk in the park because these activities can be done easily and do not require any monetary investment. But lately, many people have also started cycling especially in my city specially after the covid lock downs. I think people are becoming more conscious about their fitness.
2. What are the differences between the outdoor activities children did in the past and now?Â
Children today are busy. Between school, sports, music, fitness and dance, it seems that children have less free time than ever before. They play cricket, skate, but they like to spend their free time playing video games. If we talk about a few decades ago, children played racing games, hide and seek.
OR
Children used to play simple games like hide and seek, tag and running in the park but nowadays children are more inclined towards professional sports they love to play soccer, cricket or some children go for skating practice.
3. Is leisure important to everyone? why?
Well, many studies have shown that free time can reduce stress, depression and improve your quality of life. Free time is good for everyone because one can recharge for the next task. So it would be good if people take their free time to rest or have fun. It makes their mind more creative.
OR
Well it is important for everyone to spend some time on entertainment and one should definitely take a break during the day because in today’s hectic style the brain definitely deserves some rest. People should spend time rejuvenating so that they can concentrate or focus better on their tasks later on.
4. Do women have more leisure than men?
I think men have more leisure time than women. Men only have office jobs, they have a lot of free time at home. On the other hand, women have to take care of office work as well as housework. Therefore, they have less free time than men.
OR
I don’t think Leisure has got anything to do with the gender of a person. It purely depends upon an individual’s personality, some people like to work hard whereas others like to spend more time in entertaining themselves. In fact, at my home my mother and father, who are both working, spend an equal amount of time on leisure activities.
