Introduction: 1

When I think about an aquatic animal the very first animal that comes to my mind

is a fish. There are thousands of varieties of fishes. I want to describe an interesting

marine animal which is the most venomous in the entire world. It is the box jelly

fish. It is looks like a jelly, is transparent, one foot in diameter and box shaped. It has

many eyes and has tiny darts loaded with poison. It is found in mostly in Australia.

I came to know about this fish on a marine life show on the channel ‘Animal Planet’.

I saw it on TV. I am not sure but I saw this fish on a show a couple of years ago. When

I first saw this fish I thought it is beautiful and cute. But when I learnt more about it

I realized that this fish does not look dangerous but its sting can cause paralysis,

cardiac arrest or even death. I was shocked to know how a small fish can kill you in

seconds.

I think this is an interesting fish because of many reasons. This fish has traits that

can set it apart from other jelly fishes. This fish can swim four times faster than other

fishes. Their vision is much sharper in comparison to other aquatic animals. They are

known for hunting small prey like shrimps and small fish. Their venom is considered

one of the most deadly in the whole world. It is scary and strange. Humans can’t eat

this fish.

I have never seen this fish in reality. However, I am not keen to see it because of its

dangerous characteristics. It is risky to encounter such a wild fish. I am wondering

what will be the color of the blood of this fish because it is transparent. I am sure

there must be even more dangerous aquatic animals and humans are yet to explore

them.

Introduction: 2

Well, I am quite interested to learn about aquatic animals as they are pretty unique in nature and appearance. For example, sea horses, starfishes, octopuses and so on, but here I would like to talk about my all-time favorite, “Dolphin.”

When did you see it? and Where you saw it?
I saw this animal for the first time in my school book when I was in 3rd class, and I got captivated by the impressive looks of this fish.

What it looks like?
Dolphins are usually large in size and can be found in different colors like white, grey and black. They have a very smooth body line and fins that move like hands. Recently, while watching a show on the discovery channel, I got to know that they are the most intelligent living creature.

Explain why it is interesting?
They are highly social and often found in groups. In fact, they have developed a language as well to communicate with others. The best thing about this animal its ability to jump out of the water and dance on its tail, this is perhaps the reason why they are used in entertainment industry today where they dance, play with balls and create funny noises to entertain the audience especially children.

Conclusion:
Since, I like dolphin so much so, it is my wish to see it with my naked eyes at least once.

Introduction:3

An aquatic animal is an animal, either vertebrate or invertebrate, which lives in water for most or all of its lifetime. Marine animals may breathe air or extract oxygen dissolved in water through specialized organs called gills or directly through the skin.

What it looks like?
The body of an octopus looks like a bag. It also has a bulbous (Something that’s bulbous is round) head, eight arms, and large eyes. The arms have many nerves, which allow the octopus to grab and taste things. Octopuses inhabit various regions of the ocean.

Most species of octopus grow quickly, mature early, and are short-lived.

The giant Pacific octopus is often cited as the largest known octopus species. Adults usually weigh around 15 kg.

When did you see it? and Where you saw it?
Last month I went to Delhi for some official work/ for the exam. I visited my friend’s house at night. He is very fond of animals and birds. He has many pet animals and birds at home. He has recently bought octopus and make the proper place and create the appropriate environment for it. It is a baby octopus looks very lovely.

Explain why it is interesting?
Octopuses are brilliant animals, masters of camouflage/ hide that have tricks over tens of millions of years to avoid or thwart would-be attackers. They can match their surroundings’ colours and even textures. If a predator gets too, close octopuses can escape quickly.

Also, the octopus’s arms are lined with hundreds of suckers, each of which can be moved independently and letting the animal touch, smell, and manipulate objects.

Introduction: 4

  • India has a diverse animal life.
  • We have wild animals, domestic animals, and pet animals.
  • I am going to talk about an animal which I find very interesting.

What it looks like?

  • This animal lives in water but is not a fish.
  • It is a mammal – it is the dolphin.

When did you see it? and Where you saw it?

  • The first time I came to know about this animal was from the National Geographic channel.
  • This river dolphin is the national aquatic animal of India.
  • It gives birth to its young one and suckles to feed it.
  • It cannot breathe underwater, so it has to come to the surface to breathe.
  • Even the little dolphin baby has to be pushed to the surface to breathe.
  • Dolphins feed on most kinds of fish such as the snapper and the tuna.
  • Dolphins are fast swimmers.
  • They search their way through the sounds they produce, which is called echolocation.
  • The dolphins’ sound waves hit an object, and the echo bounces back.
  • Most dolphins are peaceful and somewhat shy.
  • So far, humans have proven to be of greater danger to dolphins than the other way round.
  • Marine dolphins are found in oceans, and river dolphins are found in rivers.
  • Like the tiger is our national animal and the peacock is our national bird, the Gangetic river dolphin is our national aquatic animal.
  • The Indian river dolphin is blind.
  • It is found in the river Ganges.
  • The female is about 9 feet long, and the male is about 7 feet long.
  • Unfortunately, our river dolphin is on the verge of extinction.
  • However, now the government has started taking steps to save it under the ‘Project Dolphin’.

Explain why it is interesting?

  • Dolphins are essential for maintaining the ecosystem.
  • I recently saw a Hindi movie Ajooba in which Amitabh Bachchan is rescued by a dolphin and considers the dolphin as his mother.
  • I came to know from that movie that dolphins are very intelligent and can be trained.
  • So, this is the aquatic animal, which I find very interesting.

Introduction 5

I have seen and known about many wonderful aquatic animals from school books and national geography channel. Here I am going to talk about one such aquatic animal which is really unique and amazing. It is the whale.

When you saw it / where you saw it

I have never seen this water animal in my real life. But I have seen it hundreds of times on National Geography Channel.

What it looks like

Whale looks alluring (incredibly beautiful) due to its extraordinary size and charming blue color. It looks so beautiful that our eye gets stuck on it once we start seeing it.

Explain why it is interesting

The whale is interesting due to a number of reasons. Firstly, it is the largest animal in the water animal kingdom. The average whales can be 30 meter long and their weight can be more than 180 tons. They are long lived animals. Some whales live for more than 100 years. Whales breathe air like other mammals. They are warm blooded. They feed milk to their infants and have body hair.

The most interesting fact about whale is that they tend to learn and teach things like humans. They grieve over the loss of their family members. They live in co-operation. To communicate with one another they produce sound waves. Whales are found in many parts of the world.

The whales search their food though sounds waves which is called echo-location. They produce sound waves which hit the object and bounce back and tell the exact location of their food. Whales eat all types of other fish.

So I think all these things make whales unique and interesting.

Introduction: 6

I have always been mesmerized by aquatic animals and have always been interested to learn about these aquatic creatures as they are unique and have a beautiful appearance. There are multiple creatures that I enjoy viewing and reading about such as an octopus or a seahorse but the one creature I would like to talk about is a Dolphin.

When did You see it and Where did You See it?

I was first mesmerized by this animal when I was visiting the Ocean Park Adventure Park in Hong Kong while I was around 8 or 9 years old.

What it Looks Like?

Dolphins are extremely large and can be found in various colours like black, white and grey. They have an extremely smooth body and their fins move like hands similar to the mammals. I read in a book that they are the most intelligent living creatures.

Explain Why is It Interesting?

I find these creatures interesting as they are similar to me in a lot of ways. They are highly social and often travel in groups. They have even developed a language to communicate with others. They can jump out of the water and are capable enough to dance on their tail. That is the reason they are used mostly in the entertainment industry, where they dance and play with balls, they also create funny noises to entertain children in the audience.

Ending

Hence the aquatic animal I like is a dolphin and I enjoy watching them.

Introduction: 7

An aquatic animal can either be a vertebrate or an invertebrate, and it lives in the water for most of its lifetime. They may breathe air and they extract oxygen dissolved in water through organs called gills which are present in their skin. One creature that I am enthralled by is Octopus.

When did You See it and Where did You See It?

I saw this animal first in the Delhi Zoo when I was visiting my grandparents. I saw a lot of animals in the zoo as well as the aquarium but the octopus caught my attention. It was alone, by itself and one of its types in the aquarium.

What it Looks Like?

The octopus looks like a bag. It has a round head, eight arms and huge eyes. The arms might have nerves which allow the octopus to grab and taste things. Octopuses are found in various regions of the ocean. Most octopus grows and mature early, and are short-lived. The giant pacific octopus is often told to be the largest species known to us.

Explain Why is It Interesting?

Octopus are pretty intelligent animals, and they can camouflage themselves, to protect themselves from predators in the sea. They cannot only match the colours but also the textures. If an attacker comes close to them they are capable enough to escape quickly.

Ending

The arms of the octopus are lined with suckers which allow them to touch and feel objects. This is why I am truly fascinated by them.

Introduction: 8

We have different kind of animals species such as domestic, wild and aquatic animals.  here i am going to talk about an aquatic animal that i find very interesting.  It is giant predator called shark.  I watched it for the first time on discovery channel in my childhood days.  When i watched it ,i was really fascinated by it .  Discovery channel showed many facts about sharks that makes sharks unique from other aquatic animals.  The first fact is that sharks don’t have bones,  Sharks use their gills to filter oxygen from the water. Shark skin feels exactly like sandpaper because it is made up of tiny teeth-like structures .  Shark is actually a fairly peaceful critter except when they swim in groups  moreover ,sharks have been around for a long time. Based on fossil scales found in Australia and the United States, scientists conclude  that sharks first appeared in the ocean around 455 million years ago.  Furthermore my favorite shark species is great white shark due to its immense power and fearlessness nature . So this is the aquatic animals that i find interesting.

Follow up Questions

  1. Do you think that the life of aquatic animals is in danger?

Yes, I agree with this. There is a lot of pollution in water and hence a lot of

aquatic animals are in danger. I also remember reading about oil leak in

water which led to the death of many fishes.

  1. Have you ever got a chance to experience the aquatic life underwater?

Not, not yet. But I would love to experience it sometime. I am scared to do

  1. One day I will gather some courage for sure and try to go under water. It

is in my bucket list. Let us see when it happens.

  1. Is it a good idea to keep animals in the aquarium? Why?

I am not very happy about this idea. It is the exploitation of animals. Animals

should be allowed to be free and they should not be trapped in aquariums

and zoos. It might depress them and reduce their longevity because it is

against their characteristics. They cannot express because they cannot talk

like us.

  1. What is your opinion about people who eat sea food?

It is completely okay. That is their personal opinion and I do not mind anyone

eating anything. There should be freedom in food preferences. We should

not stop people from eating what they like. Food is dependent on

geographical locations and life situations of people.

  1. Would you prefer to live by the sea?

Yes for sure! It will be a great idea. I can be close to nature which I love. I can

see the sunset and sunrise daily and also experience cool breeze and the

relaxing sound of the waves. It would be a perfect dream home.
